T-shaped domain

The T-shaped domain of Figure is subject to a one-step thermal load and body force. The applied temperature field is T = 0.5y, and the body force is by = −ρg. The material properties are E = 30000, ν = 0.15, α = 0.001, ρ = 2.3 and g = 9.8. The bottom is fixed, and the rest of the boundary is traction-free. Plane strain is assumed. The computational mesh is made of triangles with average size of 0.1, for 10460 nodes and 20398 elements.

The resulting thermal stresses σxx along the line y = 14 and σyy along line x =0 are compared with the reference solution.

Contours of deformations and stresses over the whole domain are further compared
